Once a consortium is awarded with a DB or PPP project, the consortium has to Design, Build, Finance, Operate and/or Maintain the project depending on the specific type of contract (i.e. DB, DBF, DBFO, DBFOM, etc.) including the Detailed Design phase as part of it.

• Supervise design teams producing the detailed design of the project (i.e. drawings, quantities and specifications).

• Manage the project design schedule according to the construction critical path and priorities.

• Provide design peer reviews proposing innovative solutions in order to increase performance, reduce construction cost and facilitate constructability (ex: reduce traffic management).

• Review the overall project budget and Bill Of Quantities (BOQ) to optimize the design of items with a higher cost percentage (bridges, embankments, tunnels, foundations, ground treatment, etc.).

• Allocate design resources according to the project needs and plan them in advance to avoid design delays.

• Prepare design deviations, developer’s change proposals or design claims to be approved by owners.
